BMW’s X5 xDrive40e reviewed in The New York Times

BMW X4 40e

BMW’s all-wheel drive X5 xDrive40e plug-in hybrid is reviewed by Tom Voelk in the The New York Times today. With an all-electric range of 14 miles, drivers still need to fuel up but the battery does reduce or eliminate the need for gas on local trips, for example to the grocery store; the battery also boosts the vehicle’s EPA mileage rating to 56 mpg-e. Offering three driving modes, Max, Save, and Auto, BMW gives drivers several options for how to deploy the X5’s 308 horses and 332 pound-feet of torque produced by the 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine and 111-hp electric motor.

Tom also provides a nice video review of the X5.
