Michael I. Krauthamer leads the EV Advisors team and is also CEO of EV Development Co., LLC. In these ventures, Michael leverages his regulatory and commercial experience to pioneer solutions in the electric vehicle charging space.
With a career rooted in wholesale and retail energy policy at the federal and state levels, Michael was an early hire at EVgo, where he helped build the nation’s first public fast-charging networks from the ground up.
Today, Michael leverages that “on-the-ground” experience to help clients navigate the complexities of transportation electrification along with the broader energy transition. He specializes in bridging the gap between high-level policy and physical infrastructure, advising electric utilities, municipalities, and C&I property owners on how to deploy, monetize, and scale charging solutions. Having helped “write the playbook” for the industry, Michael ensures his clients are not just compliant with today’s regulations, but positioned for the commercial opportunities of tomorrow.

Michael I. Krauthamer leads the EV Advisors team, leveraging his extensive blend of commercial and regulatory expertise to pioneer solutions in the electric vehicle (EV) charging space.
Building on a foundational career in wholesale and retail energy policy at the federal and state levels, Michael was an early hire at EVgo, America’s first nationwide DC fast-charging network, when it was a start-up within NRG Energy (NYSE: NRG). His achievements range from developing dozens of charging locations to securing critical regulatory successes and initiating federal legislation to support EV charging. His work has effectively helped write the instruction book that guides today’s charging industry.
Michael’s current focus areas include:
- Electric Utilities: Advising on EV charging initiatives, including incentive programs, EVs as distributed energy resources, medium- and heavy-duty EVs, rate design, and electric school buses.
- Municipalities and States: Supporting complex energy initiatives, including community choice energy aggregation (CCEA), and managing all aspects of EV charging infrastructure deployment. Michael also develops transportation electrification plans to inform clients about the feasibility and opportunities for vehicle conversions and infrastructure readiness.
- Industry Advocacy and Guidance: Serving as a Senior Advisor to the Alliance for Transportation Electrification, where he engages with public service commissions and regulatory forums across America. He also supports the Alliance’s Technology Committee on key subjects like EVSE open standards and interoperability, as well as weights and measures compliance including NIST Handbook 44, NTEP, and CTEP.
Michael’s deep understanding of the regulatory environment is reinforced by his career experience, which includes positions at the White House, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Maryland Public Service Commission.
